About Us

I am from Austin, Texas. I have some businesses there, including a used computer store called Discount Electronics and a real estate company named First Austin Property. I recently published a book, Messed Up Like You, that I hope will help others suffering from Adult ADHD and Anxiety. 


The hotel and I have an interesting past that intersected in March of 2021. Hotel Jaco had been Canciones del Mar for the first 30 years of its life. The property was feeling a little neglected and run down.


I previously owned one small hotel (hotel Zocalo) and a handful of luxury vacation rental homes and was feeling extra energetic after being cooped up for COVID. So I bought Canciones del Mar, having no idea what I was getting into. But when I finished renovations and drained my bank account, I fell in love with this place. 

So I built myself an apartment on top and moved in. I don’t live here full time but usually manage to get here for ten days out of the month. My name is Rick Culleton. You can find me at the bar for happy hour, in the gym in the mornings, or in the lobby. I enjoy interacting with our guests. They have proven to be fascinating people.

  • Cancellation Policy

    Initial deposits are not refundable. Reservations canceled 31 days prior to arrival will not be charged the final payment. Reservations may be altered up to 31 days prior to arrival.

  • TERMS & CONDITIONS

    Making a reservation requires payment in full. Any reservation canceled prior to 30 days from arrival will result in a 50% credit toward a future stay. Cancelations made less than 30 days from arrival are non-refundable.


    Hotel Jaco will not sell your information but may use your phone number and email address for future marketing and to contact you about your current reservation as well as follow up after your stay.

  • Parking

    Parking is available directly in front of the hotel and is free for guests. One car per suite is allowed.
